Bespoke Metal Pond Cover
Our metal pond covers vary in style and shape and are produced individually. We can design and make any metal pond cover from our modern fabrication workshop and blacksmiths combining methods of production, and materials to achieve beautiful pieces to suit a variety of budgets and needs. Our gallery shows an assortment of metal pond covers made for previous clients covering metal well covers, decorative pond fences, Heron fencing, and an assortment of metal pond covers to accommodate fountains, pond sculptures, and access to pumps. Our metal pond covers can be made to a template produced on-site by either ourselves or the client where complex shapes or curves are involved.
Design Details
Forged details combined with bespoke fabricated frames and infills offer a variety of metal pond cover design options. Hand-forged lily pads look great as plates to suspend the pond cover from surrounding slabbing into the pond itself. Waved bars and swirls give an organic feel imitating water ripples across the pond; see pictures 5 and 10 in our gallery for a great example of this style and approach to a metal pond cover. It is important where possible that our metal pond covers add to the space and bring a design aesthetic rather than detract from the pond itself. Our gallery examples of metal pond covers show a number of functional solutions where safety is a concern. Our metal pond covers are structurally strong enough that we can walk on them- an important test should anyone inadvisably decide to do so. Installation and Maintenance
Depending on whether your metal pond cover is a deterrent for children’s or pets’ safety or the protection of livestock we can offer you a bespoke service to suit your individual needs. Producing metal pond covers for clients nationally we are able to travel to fit and template where necessary or offer a service whereby we are provided with templates and or measurements as necessary to produce your piece and send them to you via courier for self-install. Where necessary your metal pond cover will be made in sections for ease of handling, and accommodation of your pond’s shape and size to include access hatch as required for the maintenance of any pumps, and general cleaning requirements. We do not recommend powder coating as an easily maintainable finish due to chipping and flaking that occur if knocked, water ingress, particularly in this environment, under the powder coating once occurring is not easily maintainable or ideal flaking into your pond itself.
Finishes
Our recommended finishes shown across examples of metal pond covers across our gallery are what we call t- washed or painted black on top of zinc galvanizing to protect your metal pond cover from rust provided as standard. Our t-wash effect gives a wonderful mellow patina likened to a lead grey with shades between almost purples and near white. Your piece can be left galvanized for a bright finish or painted in any colour you choose. Our hi-build vinal painted finishes are excellent if you choose to finish your metal pond cover in colour.
